The Joomla! Certification Steering Group had a meeting recently to discuss and plan the strategy for 2019.

The team analyzed the current status of the program, reviewing data about the exam sessions held in 2018 and the actions needed to revitalize the Certification in the new year.

Given the announcements about the expected timeframe for Joomla 4, the Certification Team decided to continue supporting the Certification Exams on Joomla 3.x.

Planned actions

  • Update the Joomla 3.x Administrator Exam to include the features of Joomla 3.9

  • Update the translations of the Exam to reflect changes.

  • Operate maintenance on the Exam Platform to ensure higher security and efficiency.

  • Continue the preparation work on the migration from Moodle to Shika.

Joomla released version 3.9, The Privacy Tool Suite by Joomla, on October 30th. In order to promote this version, the Marketing & Communication Department decided to launch a 2 month Google Ads Campaign to help raise awareness of this new feature.

The campaign has now finished and we are very satisfied with the results. The campaign brought us an increase of 50% in the visits to the English version of landing page, compared to the previous landing page for 3.8. It generated over 550k impressions and over 50K clicks, a click through rate of over 11%.
