One of the things I like to evangelise about Node is the fact it’s good for creating any network servers, not just web stuff. Florent Galland sent in Mailin (GitHub: Flolagale / mailin, License: MIT, npm: mailin), which allows your web apps to receive inbound emails. What’s cool about Mailin is it runs as an SMTP server, so rather than having to configure a mail server you can just use Mailin by itself.
Mailin’s homepage has a cool demo that allows you to send it an email and see it appear on the page. This works using Mailin’s webhook.
You can configure the webhook when the server is started:
mailin --webhook http://example.com/incoming_emails
The documentation explains how to install it with authbind
for safe binding to port 25, otherwise sudo
or a root user would be required.
The documentation also mentions optional spam detection support.
Mailin is built with the simplesmtp module. This provides a Node API for building SMTP servers. It has an API that should be familiar to anyone who has written HTTP code with Node:
simplesmtp.createSimpleServer({ SMTPBanner: 'My Server' }, function(req) {
req.pipe(process.stdout);
req.accept();
}).listen(port);
simplesmtp even supports connection pools, and TLS. I love the idea of using Node for servers that I can customise, but I’m not a security expert so I don’t know what the implications of using these modules in production might be. Maybe it’s time I read Node Security!

Well, what do you know? It's Mark Lee's xx birthday! I wrote down his birthday but Mark asked me not to publish it. :)
The team planned the surprise, but Mark turned up in the office a bit earlier than expected so we had to go for plan B. Luckily, he sits a bit far from the office's door; hence one of my colleague, Jason, slowly brought in the cake. He was so distracted with the codes on his display that he didn't even realized that we had light up the cake and started to surround him.
Jason gave the cue and everyone sang the 'Happy Birthday' song.
Here's the picture of the aftermath, for those who wonders about Mark's surprise + happy face.
After wiping his manly tears (lol), he offered to buy us lunch; an offer we cannot refuse. So off we go to the nearest restaurant. The food was superb and Mark, again, was struck with a second surprise.
He was greeted again, by the staff at The Curve's Tony Roma's.
Mark is so happy today that he wishes to buy lunch for all of our users and fans. However, I don't think it's geographically nor humanly possible for him to meet everyone for lunch; hence he has decided to provide a coupon code! You can use this coupon code in order to get a 25% discount off from any of your purchases with us :
The coupon code is valid only for 5 days; which means that the it will end on Sunday, 8th of Jun 2014, at 2359hrs (+8 GMT). It's best if you all make haste and use this coupon code to purchase your new and/or renewal licenses.
Let's all purchase the license and/or renew old ones using the coupon code so that Mark gets his best birthday presents ever; awesome users and friends :D...

We are pleased to announce the immediate release of version 6.5.8. This is a maintenance release which contains a few important fixes!
Google Chrome recently decided to add a width style to the hr tag when moved to a different position on the page for some reason. This can obviously be annoying as it breaks Joomla's 'Read more' feature. To address this we have developed a workaround for our users. The other issue was with Admin Tools by Akeeba. In their latest version they renamed there framework from "FOF" to "F0F". This directly affected our handshake with AdminTool Pro when setting up the editor .htaccess rules.
So please upgrade and make your users happy.
