In this tutorial, we'll show you one quick and easy way to install Google Analytics in Joomla 3.

Install

  1.  Go Extensions > Extension Manager
  2. Search for "asynchronous google analytics plugin" 
  3. Click the title of the plugin,. "Asynchronous Google Analytics Plugin".

  • Click the big, green Install button. There's also a description of the plugin below it, if you'd like to read the full details.

  • Finally, at the confirmation page, click Install to confirm the install.

Configure and Enable

Once the plugin has installed successfully, go to:

  1. Extensions
  2. Plugin Manager

  • Find and click on "System - Google Analytics".

  • Set status to Enabled, then click on Options.

  • Code type: Leave it as Universal to select Google Analytics' latest code.
  • Google Analytics Web Property ID: enter your ID, which is found in Google Analytics.
  • Domain: enter your domain.
  • Webmaster tools verification (optional) : If your domain has not been verified with Webmaster Tools and if you'd like to use Webmaster Tools, you can enter the verification code here.

Finally, click Save & Close.

Double-check

Just to make sure everything's working correctly, go to the front-end of your website, then right-click near the far left of your page and select View Page Source (or something similarly named, depending on your browser).

Use Ctrl + F (Command + F in MacOS) to bring up the search feature of your browser. Type in "analytics" to find the code. You should see code similar to the above.

That's all there is to it. Within 24 hours, you should see traffic statistics coming into your Google Analytics account. Congrats!
